History
There are 3 possible Origins regarding his name.
The first tells us about its Arab origin as Al-Bayt, which in Arabic means "House Home".
The second tells us about a Roman inhabitant called Alvitus, so the name of Alvite would be translated as ¨The House of Alvitus¨.
The third takes us to the Acibeiro Monastery, for which it is believed that its name comes from its orientation towards the Alba.

¨DE ALVITE DIOS NOS QUITE¨, es el dicho por el cual se conoce el pueblo de Alvite en la Comarca porque era una Aldea de tratantes muy hábiles y poco escrupulosos.,(Caballos pintados y revendidos, venta de vacas sin cuernos, vino con agua, jamones supuestamente podridos comprados a mitad de precio etc...).
